The Festive & Bright Experience was so much fun, and what a joy to have siblings Ben and Shianne ‘flick the switch’, lighting the Okotoks community Christmas tree during Light Up Okotoks’ 30-year celebration.
At 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 18th, the pair took the stage with Mayor Thorn in this first-ever opportunity. “They both were nervous and had butterflies up on stage in front of all those people, but it was so exciting!” said their mom Emma. “Both Ben and Shianne said they felt lucky and special being the first kids able to flick the switch on the big tree.”
Ben and Shianne received some extra goodies as part of the Festive & Bright Experience thanks to the generosity of local businesses. These included:

The raffle raised $650 for the Sheep River Health Trust which will be delivered back into the community through programs and projects in our healthcare settings.
